One of the reasons I love oil paints so much is the textures you can achieve. I was looking at this Piccasso in a gallery recently. See the contrast between the 'impasto' texture of her face and the smoothed surface of her neck and background? My customers seem to have their own styles, some painting a smooth surface others kind of dabbing on the paint to create a more textured effect.
